PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for reducing the occurrence rate of pixel defects associated with shorting/open failures of a switching element for pixel driving. SOLUTION: In the display device, a plurality of selection signal lines 6 for supplying selection signals to select any of pixel electrodes 9a arranged in matrix form on an isolating substrate and a plurality of data signal lines 5 for supplying data to drive the selected pixel electrodes 9a are made orthogonal with each other to be arranged in matrix form, a plurality of switching elements, e.g., four pieces of TFTs coupled with the signal lines 6 are arranged at every pixel electrode 9a, and a plurality of pairs, e.g., two pairs of serial switching element groups for coupling sequentially in series any multiple pieces of switching elements, e.g., each two piece of TFTs 1/2 , 1/2 and TFTs 3/4, 3/4 among the switching elements to couple with the pixel electrodes 9a and the signal lines 5 are provided. Each of the serial switching element group is coupled in parallel with the pixel electrodes 9a and signal lines 5, respectively.
