Method for determining the diameter of a hole (2), especially a recess or drilled hole in a workpiece, whereby a pressurized medium (3) is applied to one side of the hole so that it flows through the hole and a jet is ejected on the other side of the hole. The diameter of the hole is determined by measuring the diameter of the jet (4). An Independent claim is made for a device for determining the diameter of a hole in a workpiece with a pressure generator, such as a high pressure pump (11) and a sensor arrangement (5), especially a CCD camera for measuring the jet diameter.
