<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for playing a boxing game with the real feeling of boxing by shaking a glove-type input device as if in an actual boxing match. <P>SOLUTION: This boxing game system 10 comprises a game machine 12 and the glove-type input device 34. A game player shakes the input device as an actual boxing motion while gripping a body 40 of the input device. A piezo-electric buzzer is mounted inside the body, and the piezo-electric buzzer detects the acceleration when the input device is shaken. The acceleration information is transmitted by far-infrared light, which is received in a far-infrared light receiving/demodulating part 32, and is demodulated. A game processor, receiving the demodulated acceleration information, calculates the intensity of a punch when the input device is shaken, and the damage value is determined based on the intensity of the punch. Then, the physical strength value of a boxer displayed on a monitor 20 is calculated based on the damage value.
