<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal ring showing excellent durability to withstand utilization for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: The seal ring 1 is provided with a slit 2 going around the cross section. Therefore, even though wear grooves 3, 4, 5 are deep, leak passages (routes R1, R2, R3, R4) of seal fluid in the wear grooves 3, 4, 5 can be always secured to allow the given amount of leak of the seal fluid. By so doing, leak of the seal fluid in the wear grooves 3, 4, 5, 6 can be prevented to avert acceleration of the progress of wear.
