PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip antenna element that is small and thin so as to be easily incorporated in mobile communication equipment and provides a wideband characteristics. SOLUTION: This chip antenna element comprises an insulating base body 12 made of a dielectric, a radiation electrode 14 made of a microstrip conductor, a terminal 16 for feeding and a fixed terminal 18 formed on a mounting surface, and a feed electrode 20 for connecting the feeding terminal and the radiation electrode. The radiation electrode consists of a meandering conductor 22 having one or more turning-back parts connected to the feed electrode and a wide conductor 24, where the conductor width is larger than that of the meandering conductor, the base end is connected to the meandering conductor and the front end is left open. In the wide conductor, it is preferable that there are formed cut parts 26a, 26b at a middle part between the base end and the front end on one side or both sides to locally form a small part in conductor width.
