PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voicemail system for enabling a user to easily and surely receive and listen to recorded voice contents sent to an extension terminal from a station line without the intervention of a manager. SOLUTION: This system is a private branch exchange system 1 and has an MEM 24 that stores an extension number about the extension terminal 14 and an alternative telephone number corresponding to the extension number, and a voice mail device 15 for recording the voice contents in a recording area corresponding to the extension number, reproducing voice contents from a recording area corresponding to the extension number of an extension terminal in response to an incoming extension call from the extension terminal and transmitting the voice contents to the extension terminal. The private branch exchange system 1 also has a CC 25 for retrieving an extension number corresponding to an alternative telephone number coinciding with a sender's number, reproducing voice contents from a recording area of the voice mail device corresponding to the retrieved extension number and transmitting the voice contents to a station line terminal 26 when the CC 25 detects the sender's number of the station line terminal 26 in response to an incoming station line call from the station line terminal 26.
