The heating device has a flame monitor coupled to a control device which evaluates the mean value (RFW aktuell, RFW mittel) of the flame monitor resistance within a defined time interval (t(RFW aktuell,), t(RFW mittel)) for provision of a flame out signal. An Independent claim for a flame monitoring method for a vehicle heating device is also included.
