PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas charging type absorption chiller and heater having an exhaust gas high temperature regenerator with the usage of a vertical heat transfer tube group with reduced size by smoothing solution circulation. SOLUTION: The solution from an absorber A is guided to the exhaust gas high temperature regenerator GHX through a low temperature heat exchanger X heated side and a high temperature heat exchanger XH heated side by a solution flow passage, and is guided to a low temperature regenerator G through XH heating side. Then, the solution is returned to the A through X heating side. The GHX is provided with the vertical heat transfer pipe group YP in an exhaust gas passage having a rectangle cross section. An air liquid chamber YG is provided on an upper part of the YP so as to cover an opening part of the YP, and a solution supply chamber YL is provided on a lower part of the YP so as to cover the opening part of the YP. A pipe of the solution flow passage connecting the heating side of the XH and the G and a pipe connecting the G and the X heating side are connected by a pipe 3 having a flow rate restricting mechanism (a throttling mechanism) 4.
