A ring frame (113) in a ring spinning machine is provided with an optical sensor for scanning the state of a spinning point. The sensor comprises a light beam transmitter (236) and a light beam receiver (238) which is used to receive light which is emitted by the transmitter (26) and reflected by a part at the spinning point, especially by a peripheral rotor on a spinning ring. The sensor is characterized in that the transmitter (236) and the receiver (238) are borne by a common carrier (202). The carrier can be provided with a plurality of housings (212). Each housing (212) accommodates a sensor (transmitter/receiver pair). The housing is provided with a respective translucent part (240,242), which can be embodied in the form of a lens, for the transmitter (236) and receiver (238). . |
