<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which feeding failure is hardly caused even for a material to be recorded having large thickness and the occurrence of transfer deviation at a transfer part is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus consists of at least an image carrier 10, toner image forming means 12 to 16, a transfer means 20 and a fixing unit 30 to fix a toner image by receiving the material to be recorded 18 into a nip part. The features of the image forming apparatus are: (1) the fixing unit 30 is rotated and driven by having a stepping motor 32 as a driving source, and a driving current controlling means 36 is provided to perform control so that a current value for the driving of the stepping motor 32 is raised at a moment when the top end of the material to be recorded 18 enters the nip part; and/or (2) the fixing unit 30 is disposed so that the shaft or the surface of the nip part takes a twisted positional relation by being inclined to the shaft or the surface of the transfer part in the plane perpendicular to the transport direction of the material to be recorded 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
