PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device which can be small-sized and easily controlled. SOLUTION: The image input device is provided with an imaging optical system, a color filter 3A, and an image sensor 5. The color filter 3A and the image sensor 5 are located near the image forming plane of the imaging optical system. In the color filter 3A, six kinds of striped color regions (of violet (V), blue (B), green (G), yellow (Y), orange (O), and red (R)) are located horizontally in this order repeated cyclically. The image sensor 5 picks up an object image transmitted through the color regions of the color filter 3A. In the image input device, each time the color filter 5A is horizontally moved for the unit of a pixel with respect to the image sensor, an image is picked up, so that six images changing corresponding relationships between pixels of the image sensor 5 and transmission regions of the color filter 3A are acquired.
