PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve static eliminator performance by increasing ion discharge per unit time. SOLUTION: In the static eliminator 21 when a switch circuit 28 continuously conducts on/off operations, a high voltage generating circuit 24 carries out a charging operation and a discharging operation with reference to a high voltage outputted from a reference voltage generating circuit 25. The high voltage generated by composing a positive high voltage outputted from the high voltage generating circuit 24 and a negative high voltage outputted from the reference voltage generating circuit 25 as a reference voltage, and the negative high voltage outputted from the reference voltage generating circuit 25 as the reference voltage are alternately applied on a discharge electrode 26, thereby alternately discharging a positive ion and a negative ion from the discharge electrode 26.
