The warning system (1) switches a component (2) off or provides an alarm signal or an electronic message to a monitoring station. The system has a transponder (3) firmly attached to the car body so that it can only be removed by destruction of the car body (4). A communication device (7) is fixed to the component (2) and provides a reply signal. The component has a microchip (9) with a coil (10) of a resonant circuit next to the transponder on the car body, with conductors (11) between the coil (10) and the chip.
