The invention relates to a protective device (101) for an electric power distribution network against overvoltage produced by a lightning stroke. The inventive protective device comprises a first electrode electrically connected to a protected network, a second electrode connected to an earthling electrode and focalisation means for directing an electric arc between two electrodes towards a fractionation device. Said protective device also comprises a box (102) provided with two electrodes arranged therein, focalisation means and the fractionation device. The box is linked to the outside with the aid of a discharge channel (107) which is constructed in such a way that it is capable of reducing the temperature of gas generated by the electric arc and is provided with at least one change of section.
