The chain for a bicycle or motor cycle is made up of pairs of links (10) which have a figure-of-eight shape with bores surrounded by a peripheral collar (11, 12). These are mounted with the collar outwards and each pair is connected to the next by link plates (20) mounted outside them and connected to them by rivets (30) passing through the bores, the heads being mounted in countersunk bores (22) in the plates.
