PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for displaying map information capable of simply displaying various map informations at user's request and capable of accurately grasping the matched relation between map informations. SOLUTION: The system comprises a map information accumulating device which stores various map informations, a position designating device which designates a position, a selecting device which selects one or a plurality of map informations to be displayed from map informations including the above designated position coordinates, a device for displaying the selected map informations, a mark putting device which puts a mark on a point or area on the map informations, a coordinate transforming device which transforms the marked position coordinates to coordinates which indicate the same position on another map information, and a corresponding mark putting device which puts a corresponding mark on the above another map information in accordance with the transformed coordinates. A mark is put on a selected point or area on the above displayed map informations, a similar corresponding mark is put on a position corresponding to the above mark on another map information, and a landmark corresponding to the mark is displayed as character information.
