PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer ribbon which singly enables image printing and the formation of a security part and which enables an improvement in productivity and a reduction in cost, and a retransfer method using the thermal transfer ribbon.

SOLUTION: Characteristically, a coloring-agent layer forming area for forming an image by transferring a coloring agent to a body to be transferred and a security-layer forming area for forming a security layer for use in the printing of information for identifying the formed image are provided on a base material.
