PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a correcting device and a data generating device capable of correcting distortion for an image such as in a CRT television set at a low cost, and reducing the correction errors. SOLUTION: A correction data supply unit 1 of an image distortion correcting device 10 stores correction data Dc generated beforehand, and supplies the correction data Dc to a correction data memory 3 based on a correction data supply request signal Rs. The correction data memory 3 writes in the supplied correction data Dc based on a write-in area selection signal Rw and a write-in address designation signal Aw. The correction data memory 3 reads out the written-in correction data Dc based on a read-out area selection signal Rr and a read-out address designation signal Ar, and outputs it to a correction data interpolation circuit 5 in parallel. The correction data interpolation circuit 5 conducts a predetermined linear interpolation using the read-out correction data Dc, and supplies the result to a correction computing unit 6.
