PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinch roll which can cool the inner part so as to obtain uniform temperature distribution in a idth direction and in a circumferential direction of the roll with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: In the pinch rolls 7a, 7b for carrying a strip, in which a moving course of the high temperature strip produced with a metallic strip continuous casting apparatus is covered with a gas chamber, this pinch roll is provided with a roll barrel part 51 having shaft parts 52, 53 at both end parts, one or more spiral grooves 59a formed on the outer peripheral surface of the roll barrel part 51, a sleeve 60 forming a spiral flow passage 59 fitted to the outer part of the roll barrel part 51, a supplying-communicated hole 70 in the radius direction for communicating a fluid-supplying path 64 formed in the shaft part 52 with the one end of the spiral flowing path 59 and a discharge communicative hole 75 in the radius direction for communicating a fluid-discharging path 66 formed in the shaft part 52 with the other end of the spiral flow passage 59.
