PURPOSE: A method and a device for producing foam in a continuous slabstock foam process are provided to measure the height of a foam-forming mixture along a conveyor and to determine a correcting variable as a function of deviation of the actual height risen from the standard height. CONSTITUTION: A continuous method for the production of slabstock foam comprises steps for depositing a foam-forming mixture onto a moving conveyor; measuring actual height(12,13,15,16,17) risen by the foam-forming mixture along the conveyor; determining a correcting variable as a function of a deviation of the actual height risen from the corresponding standard height; and adjusting the process using the correcting variable. The foam-forming mixture is a polyurethane or flexible polyurethane. A conveying device has a conveyor belt(1) driven in the conveying direction(2). The conveying device has a fall plate. The risen actual height is recorded by one or more height sensors arranged along the conveying direction.
