PURPOSE: A defect management method using a temporary defect information region and a temporary defect information management region, a recording apparatus and a disc are provided to process a defect generated on a disc even when information is recorded on the disc. CONSTITUTION: Defect information about data, which is recorded in a data region according to the first recording operation, is recorded in the data region as the first temporary defect information(801). The first temporary defect information and defect information about data, which is recorded in the data region according to the second recording operation, are recorded in the data region as the second temporary defect information(802). Defect management information for respectively managing the first temporary defect information region and the second temporary defect information region is recorded in a temporary defect management information region provided in at least one of a read-in region and a read-out region(803).
