PURPOSE: A cooling apparatus is provided to prevent unnecessary energy consumption while keeping vegetables and fruits stored in an auxiliary storage compartment at optimum temperature. CONSTITUTION: A cooling apparatus includes a plurality of auxiliary storage compartments(40) placed in a main storage compartment(12) to store vegetables and fruits by kinds; temperature sensing parts placed in the auxiliary storage compartments, respectively, to sense temperature in the auxiliary storage compartments, respectively; and a control part controlling operation of a refrigerating cycle and period of operation of the refrigerating cycle to compensate values sensed by the temperature sensing parts with optimum storage temperature appropriate for the vegetables and fruits stored in the auxiliary storage compartments. Auxiliary evaporators(16a) are placed on outsides of the auxiliary storage compartments, and branched from a condenser(27) to form the refrigerating cycle together with a compressor(26), the condenser and an evaporator(16).
