PURPOSE: A peaking circuit of a television set is provided to sufficiently apply peaking to a low level signal by preventing a high band signal around a transient area of a high level signal from being saturated, thereby improving the clearness of a picture of a display device. CONSTITUTION: A resonator(31) detects a peaking component from an inputted brightness signal. An amplifier(32) amplifies the peaking signal to a predetermined level. A clipper(33) clips the amplified peaking signal to reduce a gain of a high level and relatively increase a gain of a low level. A synthesizer(34) synthesizes the clipped signal with the inputted brightness signal for outputting a peaking-processed brightness signal.
