PURPOSE: A rope-regulating device for an elevator is provided to considerably improve regulating performance by simplified constitution, prevent distortion from occurring by supporting a driving shaft at three parts of a housing, and uniformly distribute pressing force. CONSTITUTION: A rope-regulating device for an elevator includes multistage ropes for pulling a loading car of the elevator, and a regulating brake operating between the ropes. The rope-regulating device comprises a housing(30) having a first cylinder(32A) and a second cylinder(32B) fixed at a regular interval and forming a fixed brake(34) on a side of the second cylinder; driving shafts(40) movably mounted to the housing; a movable plate(50) having a movable brake(52) mounted oppositely to the fixed brake around ropes(51); and first and second plungers(60A,60B) fitted into operating grooves each formed to the first and second cylinders mounted to the housing. The driving shaft moves horizontally and elastically. The movable plate is connected to one end of the driving shafts. The ends of the first and second plungers are fixed to the driving shaft.
