PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding type mobile telephone set in which presence/non-presence of an incoming call during a folded state and/or presence/non-presence of a message recorded by an automatic answering function is confirmed. SOLUTION: In a control method of the folding type mobile telephone set for detecting that the folding type mobile telephone set is folded and for determining whether or not the presence/non-presence of the incoming call and/or the presence/non-presence of the message recorded by the automatic answering function is to be displayed according to a detecting signal, the folding type mobile telephone set has an incoming call display means packaged in a position to be visible even during the folded state, an opening/closing detecting means for detecting the folded state of the folding type mobile telephone set and an incoming call detection control part for detecting the presence/non-presence of the incoming call, and operates the incoming call display means in response to an output from the incoming call detection control part.
