PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb displacement of a rack shaft due to action of shocking external force applied during running by a rack guide moving and guiding the rack shaft, and to suppress the occurrence of collision in each part of a steering mechanism and hitting sound due to the collision to obtain satisfactory steering feeling. SOLUTION: Spacers 4 and 5 are arranged together with a pressing spring 34 between the rack guide 3 moving and guiding the rack shaft 1 and a pressing cap 32. Elastic projections 41, 41 to 51, 51 provided protrudedly on both end faces of these spacers 4, 5 are abutted on an opposing face of the rack guide 3 and the pressing cap 32 to absorb displacement of the rack shaft 1 due to action of shocking external force by the travel of the rack guide 3 which occurs against elastic restoration force of the elastic projections 41, 41 to 51, 51.
