PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic carrying device capable of preventing reading efficiency from changing caused by slip ratio by driving a carrying means with a controlled time interval between documents. SOLUTION: When operating this device, an intra-document time interval set value Ti(s) (the time from the restart of the previous document to the restart of the next document) is controlled by a timer in a controller 100. For example, in order to set the value Ti(s) to 1(s) (reading efficiency 60 [sheets/minute]), the time elapsed from the restart of the previous document is calculated by the timer, and the next is restarted after 1(s), and after additional 1(s), the next document is restarted continuously.
