The recording control section (10) automatically records a plurality of items of the index data (DID) in the record data (DS) according to a predetermined rule during recording of the record data (DS) on the recording medium (M), and the reproducing control section (10) retrieves an item of the index data (DID) in the record data (DS) at the time of cue reproduction to reproduce the record data (DS) from a cue recording position corresponding to the detected item of the index data (DID).
