PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Internet facsimile machine which does not transmit any high quality image data when a difference between the format of high quality image data to be transmitted after receiving capability of the destination terminal is acquired and a standard format lies only in an encoding system. SOLUTION: An internet facsimile machine 1A is provided with a capability exchanging function and a transmission resolution designating function for designating the resolution of high quality image data to be transmitted by the function. In the Internet facsimile machine 1A, when the paper size of original image data is the same as the paper size of the standard format and resolution designated by the transmission resolution designating function does not exceed the resolution of the standard format, the encoding system of the standard format is described as the encoding system of the format 22A of original image data to be written in electronic mail M4 to be transmitted first.
