The present invention relates to a method for determining the depth of a pile (5) sunken in the ground by pile driving, in which method with a device for measurement of distance (6) attached to a pile hammer (1-4) of a pile driver the distance of a pile hammer (1-4) to a point of comparison (7) is measured and on grounds of this measuring data the depth of a pile (5) is defined. The present invention relates also to a device for application of the method in accordance with claim 1, which device comprises a device for measurement of distance (6) attached to a pile hammer (1-4) for measuring the distance of the pile hammer (1-4) to the point of comparison (7) and a processing unit for the measuring data for processing the data from the measuring device and for defining the depth of a pile (5). Characteristic to the method in accordance with the invention is the fact that the distance of the existing point of comparison separate from the pile driver, such as the surface of the ground or water, (7) is measured and that the distance is measured after the stroke of the pile hammer (1-4) before starting the rising of the ram (2) again. Characteristic to the device in accordance with the invention is the fact, that the device for measurement of distance (6) has been organized to measure the distance between the pile hammer (1-4) and the existing point of comparison separate from the pile driver, such as the surface of the ground or water (7), and that the device comprises a timing device for the measuring moment in order to define the suitable measuring moment. |
