<p>Preparation of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethyl sulphenyl chloride by reacting trichloroethylene with sulphur dichloride at a temperature in the range 0 DEG to 200 DEG C. The reaction may be carried out, optionally in the presence of a suitable inert solvent; either at a temperature in the range 0 DEG to 80 DEG C. in the presence of specified chemical free radical catalysts or a physical means of generating free radicals, e.g. visible or ultra-violet light; or at a temperature in the range 80 DEG to 150 DEG C. in the absence of a catalyst.</p> |
