PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for testing a rotary balance of a crankshaft which facilitates an automation of a measurement and which can precisely measure the rotary balance of the crankshaft even when an error is included in a phase of a crank pin. SOLUTION: The method for testing the rotary balance of the crankshaft includes the steps of measuring a centrifugal force generated at the rotating crankshaft to obtain centrifugal force change information of the crankshaft, measuring the error of the phase around rotary shafts of the crank pins of the crankshaft, generating dummy information as data of an unbalance corresponding to an unbalance component to be removed from the centrifugal force change information, and obtaining an initial unbalance value of the crankshaft by using the dummy information and the centrifugal force change information.
