PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for manufacturing a high stability silica dispersion liquid useful as a raw material of an abrasive and a coating agent with dry silica as a starting material. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a silica dispersion liquid obtained by dispersing 5-30 wt.% pulverized silica particles having an average particle diameter of <100 nm in a polar solvent, a silica slurry prepared by dispersing dry silica particles in the polar solvent such as water is brought into counter collision to pulverize the dry silica particles to an average particle diameter of <100nm. The silica dispersion excellent in storage stability and suitable for use as the raw material of various abrasives, coating agents, etc., can be economically and efficiently obtained.
