To provide the sending and receiving sub-assembly in which the design has high degree of freedom and the optic cable has high light coupling factor. In the sending and receiving sub-assembly 3a of the connector 3, the photoelectric conversion element 31 is provided on the sub-substrate 32 via the bump 34 so as to have a space between the mounting surface, and the optical waveguide cable 2 is disposed in the space. The height of the photoelectric conversion element 31 with respect to the mounting surface is determined according to the thickness of the optical waveguide cable 2, and the height position is controlled by adjusting the size of the bump 34.
