PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve picture quality by eliminating the overlap time between a select signal and a next select signal.

SOLUTION: A device is equipped with a display panel and a shift register formed on the same substrate, a plurality of select switches Tx1 to Tx3 selecting a plurality of electroluminescence elements, a select signal generating circuit which outputs select signals x1 to x3 driving the select switches Tx1 to Tx3 in order, and a mask signal-INL generating circuit which masks the select signals x1 to x3 and eliminates the overlap time between successive select signals.
