The invention relates to an actuating unit for a manual transmission, which comprises a selector shaft that rotates about an axis and that can be displaced along said axis. The selector shaft comprises a selector pin which, in a medium position of rotation of the selector shaft, can be displaced to predetermined selection positions along a selector gate. From said selection positions, the selector pin engages, when the selector shaft is rotated, with selector members provided on the transmission for selecting gears of the transmission. The transmission further comprises a selector unit by which the selector shaft engages with a shift motor so as to be axially displaceable, and a selector unit by which the selector shaft axially engages with a selector motor so as to be rotated.
