PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multichip capable of sufficiently actuating functions of respective built-in chips. SOLUTION: This multichip includes a first chip enabled by a first chip selection signal to report its own condition to a first ready/busy signal and a second chip enabled by a second chip selection signal to report its own condition to a second ready/busy signal, and a control signal is connected to the first and second chips for mutual operation with an external host. By means of this multichip, the ready/busy signal representing the corresponding chip is provided in association with each of the built-in chips in the multichip, and the chip in a ready condition can execute operation instructed from the external host without waiting end of the busy condition of another chip. In this way, a memory system with the built-in multichip can eliminate a time loss such as a conventional Tloss, and consequently, performance of a memory system is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
