PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new monomer which is expected to be a raw material for a high-performance polymer and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A trifluoromethyl-substituted-4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid derivative is represented by formula (I) (R1and R2are each independently hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group; (m) and (n) are each independently an integer of 0-4; at least one of (m) and (n) is an integer of≥1).
