<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which easily processes various kinds of data recorded to an attachable and detachable recording medium, and also to provide a data processing method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a program which executes processing by using hardware resources and a slot 125. In addition, the apparatus is provided with a state monitor means 123 and 124 which monitor the insertion and removal of the recording medium 126 to the slot 125; a recording medium starting means 121 which starts the recording medium 126 inserted into the slot 125 so that the medium can be accessible; a program starting means 52 which starts the program in accordance with the description of a setting file for the program starting means read out from the recording medium 126; and an application means 31 which reads out the setting file for an application and data from the recording medium 126 and processes the data in accordance with the description of the setting file for the application. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
