The invention generally relates to an integral elastomeric side panel that i s suitable for use in or on a disposable absorbent garment. The integral elastomeric side panel (50) is formed from a material that has unidirectiona l or multidirectional directions. A fastening device (36) is associated with t he integral elastomeric side panel (50). A disposable absorbent garment (10) including the integral elastomeric side panel also is disclosed. The integra l elastomeric side panel (50) is formed from the unitary composite sheet that is prepared during assembly of the absorbent garment in a manner such that it does not require separate attachment to the garment. A rear waist edge (21) of the absorbent garment, while in a relaxed state, can extend a length that is greater than the lateral dimension of the unitary composite sheet from which the garment is formed.
