<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetable cultivation vessel having small size and light weight, easily installable in a clear space or a narrow land, producible at a low manufacturing cost, enabling easy management of irrigation and fertilization and giving high-quality vegetables in high yield. <P>SOLUTION: The vegetable cultivation apparatus is provided with a culture tank 1 holding a culture medium 2 with a holding material 3, the root 6a of the vegetable is formed in the medium 2 and water and fertilizer are applied to the vegetable 6 through the medium to culture the vegetable 6. The medium 2 contains a powdery, granular or fibrous polymer having high water-absorbency and a fertilizer-containing soil. The water capacity of the soil is increased to reduce the size and weight of the culture tank 1. The irrigation management is facilitated and the apparatus cost is reduced.
