PURPOSE: A video decoding system supporting a PVR is provided to use various PVR services of high performance in a video decoder chip and simultaneously support two HD(High Definition) displays. CONSTITUTION: Two TS(Transport Stream) decoders(101) decode a video PES(Packetized Elementary Stream) from an inputted TS bit stream and output the decoded video PES. A video decoder(102) restores the video PES to pixel values of the original picture. A PVR(Personal Video Recorder) engine(107) stores the TS bit stream on a storage medium, extracts video features from the video PES to store the extracted video features on the storage medium in a meta data type, and supports search and play of the stored TS bit stream. The TS decoders, the video decoder, and the PVR engine are included in one MPEG-2(Moving Picture Experts Group-2) decoder. |
