PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method of driving the liquid crystal display are provided to increase a viewing angle of the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel, a gate driver, and a data driver. The liquid crystal panel includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines intersecting the gate lines, pixels that are formed at the intersections of the gate lines and data lines and include thin film transistors, the first substrate on which pixel electrodes connected to the thin film transistors are formed, and the second substrate on which a common electrode is formed. The common electrode is divided into a plurality parts. The gate driver supplies a gate voltage for turning on/off the thin film transistors to the gate lines. The data driver applies a gradation voltage to the data lines. The common electrode corresponding to one pixel region is alternately provided with the first and second common voltages. |
