Heading H1D In an X-ray image intensifier tube comprising a concave photo-cathode 1 with a focusing ring 7, a cylindrical focusing electrode 2, a cylindrical anode 4 and a cylindrical auxiliary electrode 3, the auxiliary electrode 3 and the anode 4 are of the same diameter and the diameter of the photo-cathode is greater than the diameter of the auxiliary electrode. The auxiliary electrode and the anode are mounted in a hollow glass cylinder (not shown). The image demagnification is varied by varying the potential of the auxiliary electrode 3 and the electrode 3 has a limiting diaphragm 8. The luminescent screen 5 may be located at the end of the anode and away from the tube faceplate or, as shown, on the faceplate. |
