PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal fitting which avoids a plastic deformation of an elastic contact piece and can obtain a sufficient contact pressure to a tab, and provide a connector using the same. SOLUTION: In the female terminal fitting 20 which is equipped with a prismatic tube part 21, into which a tab part 11 of a male terminal fitting 10 is to be inserted, and in which an elastic contact piece 25 extending from an opening end part of the prismatic tube part 21 in a folded condition into the prismatic tube part 21; an elastic deformation part 33 deforming with a force from the elastic contact piece 25 is provided at a part connecting an elastic contact piece tip part 26 of the prismatic tube part 21 when the tab part 11 is inserted into the prismatic tube part 21. As a result, the elastic contact piece 25 is prevented from a plastic deformation since a stress added to the elastic contact piece 25 is dispersed to the elastic deformation part 33. And also, a resilient force of the elastic deformation part 33, in addition to a resilient force of the elastic contact piece 25, is added on the tab part 11, so that a required contact pressure necessary for connecting the tab part 11 elastically to the prismatic tube part 21 can be obtained.
