PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of complicatedness in setting the paper type for a paper feeding cassette by improving the user convenience.

SOLUTION: The method for setting the paper type for an apparatus comprising one or more paper feeding cassettes, comprises a first stage (step S210) for determining a paper type setting object cassette based on the paper feeding cassette opening or closing state and presence or absence of the papers in the cassette, a second stage (step S220) for judging whether or not a paper type setting menu for the paper type setting object cassette is displayed on a display part provided in the apparatus, and a third stage (step S230) for setting the paper type mounted in the paper type setting object cassette by the displayed paper type setting menu in the case the paper type setting menu is displayed on the display part as a result of the judgment in the second stage.
