PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a read time while keeping a high S/N in the case of visual observation with respect to an image reader for optically reading the image of an original and a program for realizing control of the image reader by means of a computer. SOLUTION: An image data generating means sequentially applies exposure by a plurality of lights with different wavelengths to the original to produce image data, an exposure number of times control means controls the image data generating means to change each number of exposure times by a plurality of the lights with respect to the same position on the original in accordance with the relative visibility of a plurality of the lights, and a data processing means applies averaging to image data with respect to the same position on the original generated by the image data generating means by each image data generated by the exposure using the light of the same wavelength on the basis of the control of the exposure number of times control means.
