<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization efficiency of light emitted from a light source and to adjust an optical axis simultaneously with the detection of the tilt of the optical axis. <P>SOLUTION: An optical pickup device 41 is provided with an optical axis adjusting device 89. The light emitted from a light source 42 and not made incident on a collimating lens 45 is received by a first photodetecting means 44 provided on a holding member 60 arranged around the axis 46 of the collimating lens 45. The logical sum and logical difference of signals detected by the first photodetecting means 44 are combined and tilt information signals regarding the inclination of the optical axis 61 are computed by an arithmetic means 47 and outputted to a driving means 43. In response to the tilt information signals, the light source 42 is driven by the driving means 43 and the tilt of the optical axis 61 is adjusted. Thus, the optical axis 61 is adjusted simultaneously with the detection of the tilt of the optical axis 61, and the utilization efficiency of the light emitted from the light source 42 is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
