<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform positioning by guiding a mobile two-dimensionally or three-dimensionally using a Luneberg lens without requiring an extra radio wave source on the radio wave reflector side. <P>SOLUTION: The measuring system comprises a radio wave reflector comprising a Luneberg lens, a reflector arranged on the surface of the Luneberg lens and reflecting a radio wave incident thereto, and a means for rotating the Luneberg lens arranged with the relector, and a scanning side unit comprising a means for receiving the reflected wave from the radio wave reflector, and a means for measuring a time variation in the reflective cross-sectional area of the reflected wave from the radio wave reflector as reflective characteristics. In the navigation method, a plurality of radio wave reflectors employing the Luneberg lens are installed, a regular radio wave is transmitted from the scanning side unit on the mobile side, reflected wave of the transmitted radio wave is received, two-dimensional and three-dimensional positions of the mobile and the shift thereof from a course are detected, the mobile is guided onto the course and then positioned. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
