PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber comprising assembly of carbon fibrils (carbon nanofibers) having the surface or interior carrying metal fine particles; to provide the carbon fibril (the carbon nanofibers) obtained from the carbon fiber; and to provide a technique for producing the assembly in high quality and high yield from the view point of industrial technique. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber comprises the assembly of the carbon fibrils, and the surface or the interior of the carbon fibril carries the metal fine particles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
